OnePlus X4 OLED: A New Era in Display Technology

OnePlus and BOE’s X4 OLED material improves efficiency, lifespan, and performance over previous versions.

BOE X4 Light-Emitting Material is a new custom OLED compound jointly developed by OnePlus and BOE. It will debut on the upcoming OnePlus 16.

This material succeeds the X3 version used in last year’s OnePlus 15. Internal tests claim it uses far less power than the previous generation. It also doubles the panel’s operational lifespan. As a result, the risk of burn-in and colour shift drops significantly over time.

Moreover, the X4 material reportedly outperforms Samsung’s current M-series luminescent layers in nearly every major metric. These include efficiency, durability, and overall visual performance. The improved chemistry also supports thinner, more even bezels on all four sides of a flat display.

High refresh rates become easier to sustain as well. The lower power draw helps keep 165Hz or 185Hz operation smoother without draining the battery as quickly. An upgraded circuit design further enables extra animation and gaming smoothness features.

OnePlus has not yet released official numbers. However, the leak positions the X4 panel as a serious challenger to Samsung’s long-standing display lead.
